I have Amazon Prime, so it's a moot point.
Better example would have been an Oxygenics Shower Head. Free shipping at Amazon (over $25.00) plus Amazon will have a lower price.
CW can't compete for my spending dollar, sorry about that. Not unless I'm desperate. I needed the Oxygenics Shower Head, because CW had the version with the on/off switch in the nozzle, so I bit the bullet and since I was going to be charged a flat rate of $9.99. I bought some other stuff as well.

Ok...so you are paying at least $79/year to get that free shipping. At the $9 rate you are mentioning for shipping, which is not on everything, sometimes it's free, you would have to make at least 8 online purchases at camping world to cover each shipping rate of $9. That is, if its cheaper to buy at amazon rather than CW. Sometimes it's often true, but many times its not.
Speaking of the oxygenics shower head, CW has a $5 off coupon for GS members, among many other coupons for other products and service. You need to check them out. I just bought the oxygenics shower head at CW (went there and bought it). It was $34.99. Had $10 gift certificate and a $5 coupon. Walked out paying $20 for it. Just looked at oxygenics shower spas on amazon. Saw one for $39 (plus $10 shipping) and one for $25 (plus over $23 shipping). It's on sale at CW for $32.99 and shipping is $8. Still seems cheaper to me through CW.
In Los Angeles you have several options for CW. One in San Bernardino (about 60 miles). Yes a bit of a drive. Valencia (40 miles). A little better. And LA Mirada (20 miles). Of course that mileage is based upon you living in the center of Los Angeles. Depending on which side you live on, you may actually be closer to any of them. - LantleyNomad

AS the country's largest RV retailer CW is able to make demands of suppliers and offer items that other retailers simply cannot. CW has buying power and clout within the RV world. CW has carved a place in the retail universe that its competitors envy. I agree there is room for improvement but at the end of the day there is no other operation quite like CW. In many cases they maybe the only game available, which is a result of a solid business strategy. CW is doing something right in order to survive and expand - WoodGlueExplorerI have Amazon Prime, so it's a moot point.

But you can not get those clips at amazon with free shipping on them (unless you pay for Amazon Prime). When I clicked on the Coghlan's 527 Table Cloth Clamps on Amazon, it says it's an add on item and you have to spend at least $25 to get free super saver shipping (5-8 business days). Matter of fact, it would not even complete the order at all. Wouldn't give me a shipping rate or anything.
And by the way, the clamps are on sale at CW for $1.84 and shipping is $7. At least if I only want the table cloth clamps (which you can buy at Walmart as well, which you should have one nearby), you can only spend $9 and get them, rather than having to buy other stuff just to get the order up to the free shipping rate.
Oh lordy, I was making up an example when I mentioned the clips! The fact of the matter is CW overcharges for shipping!

I doubt there are that many Camping World Warehouses across the U.S. They don't just ship from stores when you order online. Although it might be a good tactic. Could they save money on shipping? Maybe. I do know from experience of ordering a small garden flag, a garden flag pole and a plastic suction cup thing for the small flags, where shipped in a way oversized box with about 25-50' of paper stuffed on top.
Shipping was free at that time for members, but to me, it was not a cost productive way of doing it for the business. Response I go, was that it was a normal size box that they use. I think they might wanna look at it a different way. - WoodGlueExplorer

Like the water pump I bought on sale -way cheaper than anywhere else I could find on the web. And free shipping
Exactly Jeff. What I could be buying from CW, I find myself going to Amazon for totally FREE SHIPPING or shipping that's at least reasonable for any particular item.
Why should I have to pay a flat basic rate of $9.99 to buy some $3.99 clips for my tablecloth? I'd be happy paying $3.99, but $9.99? C'mon!

CW and Amazon have different business models. Choose the one that works for you. CW is a brick and mortar operation where you can see and touch merchandise before you buy. Amazon is an internet based behemoth.
I shop a lot at Amazon as well only because there is no CW in my area or even in my state:W.
I enjoy CW and often stop in and buy if there is one on my route. There is more to a transaction than simply price. Yes CW has room for improvement, but they are still the largest RV retailer in the world.
Despite all the naysayers CW is doing something right. - ghsebldrExplorerEnjoyed your show Marcus. She really didn't know the cost of her inventory, really?
Anytime you want to market my greenhouse manufacturing business I would welcome your 100K lol - WoodGlueExplorer
