Maybe he realizes that in the long run parts of Camping World are a dying business. Everyone posts how they can buy this and that off the internet cheaper than at a CW store. Well, maybe that's because the only profit to be made inventorying water pumps in an expensive building, on a lot of valuable real estate, with a bunch of expensive equipment, staffed by sales clerks and technicians is by selling them for a premium to the "need it now" customer and charging a profitable labor rate to install it. Maybe he realizes that any future for Camping World is in retail RV sales and repairs, because that isn't done very well on line. CW is now the largest retailer or RVs in the world, that is a job well done, whether or not an individual likes their services.
You can just as easily argue that Walmart doesn't get customer service because the greeter won't walk you down the aisle to find a hose washer like an employee at the local hardware store will. Yet you would be hard pressed to say that hardware store really gets retailing and Walmart does not. The goals of a business and the customer often do not completely mesh.
