Just got this from Canadian Border Services Agency, in response
To my question on their FaceBook page. I asked, can Alaskans cross the border to drive home?
Their official answer to me is “yes”. Pls read their answer below:
Yes - if your trip is essential and asymptomatic – for example travelling to get home - you may transit through Canada. You are asked to limit your stops along the way and self-isolate in your vehicle. If you need to stop (to use the facilities) – ensure you are practicing safe social distancing.
Additionally, for any period of time in which you are not travelling, for example if your transit requires you to spend the night in a hotel, then you are required to self-isolate as well.
If your trip is recreational in nature ie fishing trip – even if you are asymptomatic - then it is deemed non-essential and you will not be allowed entry to Canada to transit through to Alaska.
