2. Droplets are propelled away by the force of the breath that the droplets are in. This is where the 6’ social distancing recommendation comes from. If you reduce the force of the breath (by slowing it with a mask) you reduce the distance the virus containing droplets will travel. Some of the droplets will absorb in the mask reducing the amount of droplets traveling outward.
