Most people don't know this but the Mexican factory workers make about 1200 pesos week. That's about $55 dollars. However, they belong to unions. We have lots of unions and the workers receive free universal or social medical care for themselves, spouse, children and any parent living with them. They also receive food coupons, points toward buying a house at 6.9% fixed. Houses are available at 850 pesos a month. Granted, they area very small but are new, with well-paved streets, a park and schools in each neighborhood; kinder, primary and secondary. Each Mexican also receives two bonuses at the end of the year, a Christmas bonus and a profit-sharing bonus. Kids in these neighborhoods receive free school books, food programs at school, uniforms, and scholarships for high school and university (51% of all Mexicans receive a scholarship). The list goes on but I know I am probably preaching to the choir.
Great place but it's not for everyone. I guess that's true of any country. If not, 7 billion people would be living in the U.S. :)
We boondock all over Mexico without any issues. Try it, you'll like it.
