A lot of people of said they still love Mexico but conditions have changed in Mexico that have led them to rethink their trips down. Nothing is wrong with that. You are in Mexico Light so what you experience and/or offer is different than Villa Corona, an off the path location or Real Mexico offer. You don't have to deal with the border crossing hassle that is required to go into Real Mexico. Visiting Rocky Point does not requiring purchasing over priced fuel as most RVs can reach RP with the fuel purchased in USA and return. You don't have any tolls (yet) to RP which nearly doubles your per mile cost of travel into Real Mexico. The road to RP is built to USA standards which is not the norm in the rest of Mexico. Our livelihood is not dependent on the tourist & RVer so we can be very objective. Do hope you have a very profitable season as Mexico needs every successful business and business person it has. It is like the saying, "I love you but I am not in love with you", so the divorce goes forward.

Well said Rocmoc. I too consider Rocky Point a Mexico lite. It only exists primarily for American tourist. Much akin to people that fly in to Cancun spend US dollars, stay in all inclusive resorts, eat Mexican American meals then say they have been to Mexico. No they have been to a resort in Cancun. Drive to Cancun, eat with the locals, shop at the markets with the locals....then you can say you have been to Mexico. Drive to Agua Azul, horseback into the butterfly reserves, pet the whales in Guerrero Negro, buy some silver in Tasco .... Then you will see the beauty of Mexico. I enjoyed it, I miss it, but for many reasons it is no longer worth it for me and many others. A very sad circumstance.
I will tell the 1200 fishermen here in Rocky Point that they live in Mexico lite, to the pleasure of the Americans who come here to spend their money.....They probably will get that.....NOT.... As for the roads, I travel about 20,000 miles a year in Mexico by road. The road from the border to Penasco is nice, but it is nothing like the concrete highway from Caborca to Santa Anna, or 15 the 4 lane divided highway to Hermosillo. I have lived in Mexico for almost 10 years, I live in a regular working class neighborhood, my Mexican friends don't think that "lite" would be a proper way to define their town. We have Indians from the Maya that live here, we have Tohono Oodham tribes still everywhere in the desert north of us, we have the nahtil people here and we have Americans and Mexicans as well. some of you guys have a way of making yourself sound better than others.....it's just not so. If you want to come to Mexico then I say "go for it" if you want to complain about tolls, or roads not "being up to your standard" or some places not being Mexican enough for your taste - then stay home save money and count your blessings. For me and my wife, we will pick up some beer (light probably) and head to our beach spot in Mexico Lite. Ajua! Life is great!
