04 Monaco Dynasty 42 Regal or 2007 Tiffin Allegro Bus 40 QDP

Hello all. New to the Class A world. Have owned 3 fivers, love the RV lifestyle, and it's finally hit us that it's time too move into the world of the Class A. I'm retired military and wife will finish her Army career in 4 years, and our plan is to full time shortly after that.

We are very close to pulling the trigger on one of the two models I listed above. Obviously, the Tiffin is newer, 26,000 fewer miles, but the Dynasty is also in great condition. The Dynasty is currently 12-14K less, but the Tiffin is located less than an hour from my home. The dynasty would require shipping across country.

While we won't be traveling a great deal over the next few years, I would like to get something now and take the time to become familiar with the ins and out of the coach.

Any thoughts on these model years would be greatly appreciated.

  • We actually like both floor plans. The Tiffin is located close to home so I've seen that one and it appears very well maintained...just over 40 k miles. I may actually get the Monaco a little cheaper...but will have to get it shipped across country.
  • Thanks Dennis. My wife actually links the fact that the Dynasty has a king bed. I like the fact that the Tiffin is 3 years newer also.
  • Obviously, you've got to like the floor plan and overall livability of whatever coach you choose. And, the mechanical condition and how each of them has been maintained is critical.

Assuming either floor plan works for you and both have been properly maintained and are in satisfactory mechanical condition, I'd vote for the 42' Dynasty with tag axle. If you are going to be traveling a lot, the tag axle coach will provide a level of ride, handling and weight carrying ability that will exceed that of the 40' coach. I'm a proponent of buying high end used when you can due to build quality of most higher end rigs. The Dynasty was high in the Monaco pecking order and, IMO, in a class above the Tiffin Bus.

Tiffin folks will tell you that Tiffin offers outstanding customer support even for coaches well out of warranty.

Either of them would not be a bad choice.
  • Which floor plan does your wife like better? The Dynasty will have a tag so that's a definite plus. The Tiffin is newer so when you're ready to retire you'll have a newer coach. For the extra 12k, I think I'd opt for the Tiffin +3 yrs....JMHO....Dennis
