There is a link on here somewhere that shows a New Zealand solution to the low clearance problem.
They have height sensors that set off all kinds of warnings but continued to have issues with trucks entering a low tunnel.
They have installed a waterfall. If a high vehicle sets off the sensor the waterfall starts to fall at the tunnel entrance and a giant 8 foot stop sign is projected onto the falling water.
It looks pretty sharp and apparently has beem 100% effective.
