Standard Class C 12vdc and 110vac systems, including the converter charger, engine alternator, charging device, and house battery setup for interior lights and appliance controls, furnace blower and freshwater pump work reasonably well for camping with shore power available and travelling usage. The don't work well for camping "off the grid" without shore power, batteries become discharged in 2-3 days and things don't work. Running a generator or RV engine alternator for long periods to charge house batteries is not practical. Many "off-grid" users install large solar arrays, multiple batteries and high capacity inverters, which is expensive.
