The big problem I see with a manual trans is where will you mount the shifter? On mine it would have to be the engine cover. But the engine cover needs to come off a lot for maintenance, you're not going to be able to get to the shift rods anywhere but the transmission. Pulling that cover trying to snake 3 ft of dangling bent rods through wiring is going to be a big job. But I think the biggest job would be making the shift rods. You're not going to be able to see most of where they need to go or measure lengths and angles to bend. I like a challenge but not what it would take to do that.
Not a lot is easy on these when it comes to the engine. I'm also a fan of standard transmissions, but not trying to design the installation for one for one of these.
