1994 Ford F53 Transmission Failure

Transmission failed on short trip yesterday. I was going up a hill in cruse control and transmission released and engine revved up and CEL came on. Coasted to a stop on the other side of hill and it would not move in any gear, like it is stuck in neutral. Linkage is in tact, but not going into gear?

Any ideas on what may be wrong?
  • Glad to hear it worked out and the trading dealer gave you a reasonable cost offset with the problem coach.
  • Can anyone point me in the direction of a service manual for this motorhome?

I'm trying to repair a motorhome for a homeless gentleman, his tags are up.
It's having shifting issues. so I'm trying to track down the wiring diagrams troubleshooting guides and vacuum routing.
I will pay for a the manual and PayPal someone a little extra if they can point me to where one is at.
If anyone has a hard copy, that I can convince to scan a couple pages I'll buy you a beer or 2.
I just don't want to see this gentleman loose his home.
He's a decent mechanic so if I could leave him with a repair manual when I'm done that would be great.

  • You did good swapping it out. That rig is 25 years old. Brake lines, rubber roofs, fridge coils, wood underlayment, etc.. are all wearing out. The point is, do you want to enjoy it traveling, or enjoy it as a never ending fixer upper hobby?
