1997 Coachmen 220RK

Catalina Sport. 23' overall length, E-350 cutaway van chassis with a Ford V-10 engine. Does anyone know what kind of gas mileage this vehicle will give?

It has 120,000 miles on it, so am also wondering what it might be worth? I was told that it is in excellent condition. It is nearly two hours away, so I have not been to see it yet.

Since I know nothing about RVs, I am wondering if this is too many miles to start with?

Thanks for your help in advance!

So, did you have to break camp every time you went on a tour or went shopping for supplies in your C?

Assuming that was meant for me, in my case breaking camp amounted to unplugging my electric connection, water hook up, and disconnecting the wire to my remote satellite dish - maybe a 2 or 3 min undertaking.
  • We tow a 2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara 4X4 so that we can go touring around and leave the C in the park.

We went one Christ-mass to visit a friend in El Paso and left the toad at home, well we should have taken it, we rented a small car to go to Mesilla and look around, that cost a bundle, never again the toad goes with the RV.

  • I have a 1997 220RK. Over four years I averaged 10.3mpg. I never had the need for a toad, but did occasionally tow various boats, and would get as low as 7-8mpg while towing.
  • I have a Coachmen Catalina Sport 22Rk with the V-10 and it gives me about 7 to 9 miles per gallon some times more if we do not pull the toad.

What you need to be careful is not to load the rear kitchen with to many heavy items and the pantry since they are behind the rear wheels, we carry some food items in the under space of the front dinette seat and some under the couch, one thing that we do is carry a full tank of water, we tend to boondock on the spur of the moment.

The overhead bins are a bit to big so I placed a shelf mid way to be able to carry more useful items, we also have light weight acrylic glasses and Correl dishes.

The more weight the more fuel it needs to move the RV, we keep our speed at 55Mph since we tow a Suzuky Gran Vitara 4X4, the faster you go the les miles per gallon.

If the engine was well maintained it has at least another 130,000 miles left in it.

The mileage will be ~10mpg if your right foot is light, 8mpg if your foot is heavy.

120k miles is just nicely broken in.

As for price, since you didn't complete your profile, we don't where you are and couldn't speak to regional prices.
