1998 Freightliner XC Exhaust

I have a '98 motorhome with a 3126B Cat in it. The turbo downpipe that goes from the turbo to the exhaust brake has a hole in it and I am having a heck of a time finding one. Any ideas on where to get one or have one made? It's a 4 inch pipe with a 4 inch flare on one end and a 5 inch flare on the other. Also need the flange gaskets for the flares.

Any help would be appreciated!

Steve

Contact your chassis manufacturer (suspect Freightliner). They speced and installed that pipe and likely stock it.

    Thanks Brett,

They don't stock it but do list it ... at $1024.00!!! That's why I was wondering if anyone had found an alternative place to get one. At about $200.00 per foot, that seemed a bit high to me!

Now, that is a lot of mark up.

Check around on the east side of Houston for an OTR truck exhaust shop.

  • I had a similar failure when I had a 2002 Journey with CAT. My pipe was a bit different than what you describe but I took the pipe to my local Freightliner shop/parts counter and they fixed me up with some flexible stainless pipe and stainless clamps that worked fine. I had the coach for another 6 years after the fix and had no other issues.
