1999 Allegro BUS 39 Hood Latch Help Please

I recently purchased my Allegro BUS and am in the process of addressing some of the necessary maintenance issues. The hood cable broke loose when I pulled on it, seems the cable is attached to only the passenger side. I'm not certain how the driver side is supposed to be released. It consists of a pin on each side which is spring loaded, that pin then locks into holes in the hinge mechanism to hold it closed.

The hood is now open but I'm uncertain how to tackle this. I can fix the cable most likely but I'm not certain how this operation is supposed to work. If there are any current or former owners of this model, I would sure appreciate some advise. Hopefully I can attach the two pictures I have of the left and right hood lock. The plastic tie wraps are on there just to hold the pins open for now.

  • could you post the name and phone number might be a good thing to have in a notebook in the rv,I have the same latch setup as you.

    Booty
  • I guess I need to eat some crow, Jesse from Tiffin replied to my email with a telephone number, I called and they are shipping the cable.
  • Those solenoids would do the trick, with the luck on the cable so far I may end up doing that.
  • Re not getting an answer to e-mails sent to Tiffin, try telephoning them. Tiffin doesn't do much with e-mails. I'm sure you'll get the info you need from a tech on the phone.
  • I have emailed Tiffin twice and never received a response. Not on this issue but a couple of others. I tracked down some of the mystery, it is a single cable from the helm to the engine compartment, then splits into two cables. I did not see the other cable as someone (dealer) had stuffed the end up in the cowling and out of sight. The cable is made by HI-LEX but their website does not offer much along the line of a parts lookup.

Picture is below. If I can't find a replacement cable, I might be able to split the thing and install a couple of new cable ends.

if you do not find a easy way you might look into just adding a pull type 12v Electric pulling solenoid

here is a link and look at the
(MOT) A420-066290-00 or any other that will mount onto the attach bracket.
