2 air filters
I have a 1989 Winnebago Chieftain with a 454 and Qjet carb. What is the inner air filter for and how do you clean it?

No the outer is replaceable the inner is permanent.
What is the purpose of the inner filter? I would think there should be a way to clean it.
That is what the op is asking HOW do you clean the thing.
My rig has one that I just blow out with an air gun. But I wanted to see if others had a better answer because I do not know the correct procedure either. The inner on mine is NOT oily so it is not an oil bath unit in my opinion but I do not know the correct answer
