I've known several snowbirds that haul cars from Upstate NY to Florida and back using exactly that method. I do recall one of them had a wireless camera they placed in the car with a view of the dash for safety, but I don't see that as necessary for the short run you'll be making. As far as any concerns about it dropping into gear from a bump, it's no different than any other 4-down towed car, and I've never heard of it happening. The only difference between this method and the Remco pump will be the "overkill" HP you have turning the lube pump.
