Yes, air dryers DO require periodic servicing.
Several options:
Rebuild with new filters
Reman from the factory that made it (best choice IMO as it replaces all valves, heater, etc in addition to the filters).
Replace with new (OK, but more $$)
Replace with "made to replace ...." Often cheap Chinese knock-offs. NOT worth the risk to your air brakes and suspension components IMO.
