2005 winnebago journey 35g

I have been dragging a trailer and have an opportunity to pick up a 2005 Winnebago journey 35g at a good price,50k. Its 10 years old,90k on odometer. Just looking for any thoughts on reliability issues.
Thanks

Ask to speak to whomever replaced the glass as a condition of any further negotiations. I would want to know if they found rust (I'd bet they did) and what they did to deal with it. POR 15, Rust Seal or some other good rust preventative needs to be used to keep it from recurring.

  • The Winne Journey/Itasca Meridian of that era were very good entry level DP's. Built on Freightliner XC chassis... many had the CAT C7 350HP, some had the equivalent Cummins. As noted, it is all about how it was maintained and cared for.

We owned a 2002 Journey 36GD with the 330 CAT for 8 years and put 92,000 miles on it. It never missed a beat. Two things that were weak links on all Winnebago's of that era were the roof-to-sidewall joint (it needs at least annual inspection and recaulk or many, like me, just put 2" Eternabond tape along the seam for a permanent fix), and the tendency for the steel frame behind the windshields to rust. Water and grime gets in a space between the glass and fiberglass rushing the frame. What usually happens is the rust eventually breaks the glass.

If the coach passes a through inspection and you can verify it has been properly maintained (drive train, air dryer, etc), I would not be concerned about the mileage.
