2007 Tioga 12v in trailer plug doesn't work

Hi,

I just got a new to me used 2007 Tioga on the Chevy Workhorse chassis. I'm in the process of getting it set up to to pull my car. I need to get 12v to the car.

All of the other functions - left turn, right turn, running lights work fine, but I'm not getting the constant 12v on one of the pins.

I've checked all of the fuses, they look fine.

Other than a broken wire, does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Rob

  • On my 2006 E-150 Ford van I was missing 12 V at the trailer connector. Found out that it was missing a relay on the fuse panel. Found the relay in a plastic bag that was in the van when new, plugged it in, and the 12 V appeared. Not sure if your Chevy is the same.

I've got a Blue Ox Patriot brake in the toad. I have to disconnect the toad battery while towing, so I thought I'd supply power to the brake (only to keep the internal battery charged) from the motorhome rather than running a dedicated line from the toad battery.

Ran the setup today for a few miles and it worked great, although I'll need to get a drop hitch because the towbar angle is too high.

Thanks for checking. Mine had a good fuse in it. Looked all over to see what I was missing, couldn't find anything.

Just ended up tying the 12v+ on the toad with the running light circuit. Now when pulling the toad, I'll just have to run with my headlights on. That's not such a bad thing.

    Thanks again!

  • If it is anything like my 03 chevy duramax truck and has a fuse block under the good. There is a dummy fuse in the spot that supply's power to the 12v connection on your trailer plug. Its is pink in color. It is not one of the 2 bladed type fuses, its bigger than that. I will go out tomorrow and look and see exactly what port its plugged into and get back to you.
  • How many pins do you have on your wiring plug on the rear of your motorhome?

Many only have a 4 pin connector. That will only do the turn, brake, running lights. They do make 6 pin round plugs that picks up a few more devices and then there is the 7 pin or blade round plug. That one will have constant on, electric brakes, and charging circuit.

You can buy the different connectors at most automotive supply stores. However, you will have to run the wiring from your fuse panel to the rear plug.
