2008 Fleetwood Jamboree 26J

I'm a total novice in the world of motorhomes but I'm recently retired and want to strike out on the road. I have an opportunity to buy a used 2008 Fleetwood Jamboree 26J with 20K miles, for $16K. Is this a good, reliable model Class C, and is that a fair price?

  • A bit late to this but it may be of interest, this model is very popular in the Rental market, back in 2008 and still today,if it will stand up to that market then you should have a very good rig, with proper maintenance it should go well beyond 100000 miles.

From the price you seem to have gotten a very good deal.
  • Thanks guys for all your very generous advice! I've put a deposit on the RV and just waiting for it to be delivered. I have five days to look it over before deciding to keep it. You guys are the best, thanks again!
  • We had old but good looking tires come apart and the steel belt whipped the holding tanks and wiring under the rig, causing us to spend a day in Puyallup waiting for the "RV Doctor" to weld the cracked ABS plastic tanks and getting replacement tires locally at high tourist prices. Luckily we did not lose control. If tires have cracks in sidewalls that are 1/8" deep, they may be unsafe. Best to protect tires from sun damage with covers when parked for long periods.
  • One source of the specs on that model: Fleetwood 2008 Jamboree 26J
The floorplan is a corner bed model and no couch.

The price is great though and a good model to hit the road to see if you love RVing.
Some here would not buy a corner bed, or just a cabover like we have, but we are still agile enough to get into the cabover and don't mind the slight disturbance from night bathroom visits. We like the short length. This one is 27' actual length, which is a bit long for a corner bed model--some are only 25'.
We drove ours for a year before we replaced the tires it came with, two new and four older tires. You take a chance with older tires but if you are just camping locally, it may be worth the time to see what else is wrong with it.
  • Not familiar with the J floor plan. Great price. Have brakes, engine cooling system , suspension, etc. checked by a pro truck mechanic. May need new tires for safety if they are over 4 years old by DOT codes. Don't buy if you see evidence of leaks/mold in ceilings or walls. Jamboree line is almost identical to Tioga. We like our 2004 26Q but it is average build quality. The 26Q models have very large rear lighted cargo hold.

First, will the floor plan work for you?
Second, can you verify the house portion hasn't leaked?
Then, if the chassis is from Ford, is it the 2008 Chassis Year? Could be 2007, and the 2008 gets you the current body style (massive chrome grille) along with improved brakes and a few other things.
The Fleetwood Class C's seem to be pretty good.
  • Looks to me like a great price after a little googling. We had a 8 jamboree for 5 years or so and it work for us just fine. Of course who knows what changes in 20 years!
