Friend owns a auto recycle place. First thing he does when they come in is cut the converter off. I was there once when the buyer came and he got $27,000+ out of the pile he had. Each one was a different price and one of them was $640. Lowest was $50. I would bet your converter never sees another vehicle. Easy money for thieves if they can get rid of them.
