2008 Jayco M-28 Quality

Question

I am looking at a Jayco 2008 M-28 class C MH w/26000 mi. I very clean in and out. Seller asking 42500 High Nada is about 29000. I know a little about MH's since I have owned 3 so far my last being an 02 Dutch Star DP.

My question is Jayco a reasonably quality MH?

I'm not sure about the rubber roof on older class C's, they probably have leaked at the cab joint at some time. Winnebago, Coach house and Phoenix Cruiser seem to use a 1 pc fiberglass roof which is probably better.

NADA is 29k and he's asking 42k? If those are true numbers, why are yiy even considering this? He won't come down in price to anywhere near NADA.

Quality in an rv is something that i have been trying to uncover since i started repairing my first one in 1970.
Im sure by now, you understand that any rv thats 13 years old , survives by the care it was given throughout its life. Quality is just a word.

Snomas,This is a seller's market for RV's.  I've heard of people of selling their RV's for what they paid NEW for them 2 years ago. That's unheard of!!! I don't think the NADA numbers mean much for anyone selling who has a pulse on the current market. I think things will get much better in a year or so, hopefully, when the many people who recently bought RV's for the first time realize they're a lot of work, and not any cheaper than other types of vacations. So if you can wait this out, it'll work in your favor. Remember that if you DO  pay their asking price and the market softens up dramatically in a year and you need to sell it, you might have to take a substantial loss by selling it in the NADA range.You're the buyer, make a fair offer with the proverbial "cash in hand". It's up to the seller to accept it or not.  Be prepared to walk away. If the rig is still for sale a week or so later, try again.Good Luck,~Rick

I had a Safari 31' trek w/ fiberglass roof and it never leaked. my 02 dutch star leaked and I finally put on a new roof after a storm hit it in Colorado in 2013. I drove it for over 10600 mile. I won't pay his price but I will pay more today if I find what I like and I can afford a loss if I have to sell it in several years.  I only have a few more years of being able to drive any vehicle.
