2009 Monaco Dynasty Regal IV with 500hp Cummins

Mark, Funny you say that because that is what I thought when saw you had a new one on order. However, we have been looking for a front kitchen bath and half since '07. You have the Air Force braking system, how is that? Do you have the TPMS?
Roman Duck, We are originaly from Albany. However, we have been in MI for over 40 years.
DSDP, We looked at a 2013 Newmar Dutch Star 4018 but my wife kept holding out for the front kitchen.

michbill......Grab that one up if it's in good shape. The 500 ISM was an option and very hard to find in a used coach. Most came with the ISL which was a little underpowered for that heavy of a coach.

I looked for a long time for a 2009 Bishop IV with that motor and only found one that sold right away.

Well,seems that most was covered by others. We bought a 2000 Damon DP. Much the same history. You mentioned an extended warranty, We opted for that and it paid for itself in the first 6 mos. Ball joints bad, had to be replaced, Bill came to a little over 2700. Not knowing the history and having the selling dealer so far away the extended warranty option is one worth considering

Michbill, if that 2009 doesn't work out and a 2008 would fit the bill, let me know.

Moisheh, I only have had gas coaches. This will be a new experiance. My gas only gets 5-7MPG I pull a Jeep Grand Cherekee.

A big coach with a big engine will get you better fuel mileage than a big coach with a small engine. I'm over 8mpg consistently with mine @ 1500 rpm even over the Rocky Mountains. But, we avoid interstates.

@ Mr. Mark, funny you mention the turn signal clicker...I had to zip tie mine as it kept bouncing loose....:).

@ OP...I would have a local Cummins dealer pull the codes on your engine. Many will do it at no charge. This will tell you a whole bunch about your engine. The codes are stored until someone deletes them. I had mine pulled this year and it was 12 pages long. Good info. Have the engine and genset serviced if you have no records from the previous owner.

Go through the coach with a bag of zip ties and add one every 12" or so. This will keep the wires from bouncing around and breaking. Easy preventative maintenance.

Since it's an 08 a call to Monaco with the VIN will get you a copy of the build sheet from when it was mfg. This build sheet will also have all the serial and model numbers of the things in the coach. Good reference material.

Grab a TPMS to monitor those tires. Since you don't know how they were treated, IMHO, this would be one of the first things I'd get. (dealer option maybe??)

Bill, the engine needs to be serviced every 10,000 miles, chassis lubed every 5,000 miles. The genny would need service every 250 hrs. (if I'm not mistaken). I have the Aqua-Hot serviced every other year as the nozzle looked brand new after a one year replacement a couple of times, so I moved to a two year schedule. The fuel filter is also changed at that time.

I change my two water filters every six months. The red-hat valve that allows you to fill the fresh water tank from the shore water needs to be exercised regularly. I'm on my second replacement as it got stuck and wouldn't switch back to regular incoming water (to sinks, toilet, etc.).

The macerator should be cleaned periodically. Easy to do. I would probably do that first or try it with the gray water tank to see if it works. Don't get stuck with the black water and macerator not working... messy.

Over 65,000 miles and 7 yrs. of ownership, we have averaged 7.2 mpg. Our toad weighs 3,500 lbs. and the coach weighs 40,039 lbs. at the last weigh in.

We have an 08 Dynasty with the smaller engine. They are great coaches. Much nicer than the Dynasty's being produced today. None of the big coaches get good fuel mileage. Asking that question either means you should be looking at something smaller or you will get all kinds of answers that will state anything from 6 to 8. Mr. Mark's 7 is very close to what we get. I have a heavy foot and tow a 6400 lb. PU. A smaller car would probably help!
