Once these are installed, you adjust the rollers to stop where you want them when they come up. We wanted them to stop right below the top long window. Since the window slants toward the front, MCD recommended getting a piece of black foam board to cut the triangle area for when you stop. They said that is what they use when they do the install.
The install is so simple a cave man can do it. Each side had 3 little clamps that screw up on the top (these are very similar to how a venetian blind snaps into its rail) one screw for each clamp. I believe you need at least 1 3/4 to 2 inches from the outside edge of the window frame clearance. It doesn't take much.
There was plenty of clearance on the C, but if I remember correctly, it was tighter in the W. With the shade, you can remove the curtain railing, so you will actually have more room that if you were just trying to put up a sunshade.
We noticed that they roll both rolls toward the backside on the cockpit windows rather than one roll back and one roll forward on all the others.
You can use the screen or the shade during traveling it says. I can see maybe pulling the shade down part way if needed.
