2014 Sunseeker 3050S

Been looking at different RV's for some time and think we have settled on a Sunseeker 3050S but have a couple concerns.

The coach has one full wall slide. Can I expect slide, slide topper or leakage problems from one huge slide?

The coach is on the longer side for Class C's and it is based on a Ford E-450
chassis but is it to big for this chassis? I know they wouldn't built it if it wasn't but I owned a fifth wheel that weighed 17,000 pounds loaded and the undercarriage was
undersized and I had all sorts of tire and brake issues.
I plan to tow a 2012 VW Jetta on a tow dolly.

Is RVDirect good to work with? I got a quote on a fully loaded bunk model that was $2,000 less than a used 2011 model listed for and comparing my local dealer on a new one, they aren't remotely close to price.

Thanks for the help.
  • Hi!

The wife and I have been shopping, looking, dreaming and scheming for about 6 months now and we just settled on the 3050S! We pick it up in the next few days.

I'm just curious to know if you went ahead with it and what your experiences have been to date.

    Jim
  • No we haven't bought it yet. Still looking. We pretty much picked this unit as our final selection but was concerned about the extra long slide out and engine power towing a car since its a pretty big Class-C
  • Downside of RV Direct is that if you have warranty issues, no place in your neck of the woods will honor it, so if something breaks or there is a leak, it will end up having to be paid for out of your pocket.
  • Last Feb. or so, when my wife and I were on our latest MH hunting adventure, we came across one of those units. It was very nice inside. Later walking by the back of it, we couldn't help but notice how much that unit leaned to the left side with that slide out. It really looked strange.
  • Mich F, I wonder if the airbag was deflated. The one we have looked at several times is level and the auto jacks are up. It does have two airbags that you can control independently.

That could very well have been the case.
  • We bought the 3050S in July 2013 and the dealer had the vehicle >4 months between then and December 2013. The full-length slide kept binding up, ultimately requiring the slide manufacturer to tear it down and fabricate new componenets for it. It STILL takes multiple attempts to get the slide fully extended and/or retracted.

We had to replace the A/C unit, the microwave and the in-dash navigation / entertainment system is the least user friendly device I've ever used.

My wife and I cannot express how unhappy we are with this vehicle. :-(
