2015 Jyaco Greyhawk house battery

I'm hoping someone can help. We took delivery of our 2015 Greyhawk in December. Due to the extreme cold temperatures I decided to remove the house battery. Now I can't remember which cable go where on the battery. I called the dealer and talked to the service department and they couldn't help. I have attached a photo of the battery box. Thanks

Good on RV.net and YOU. A POX on your Dealer!!! The amount of damage a reversed battery can do is unbelievable. Welcome to RV.net and Happy Camping. You'll be helping us shortly.
  • Thanks everyone for your help. I'm back in business. Everyone here did something the Jayco dealer couldn't do and that was give me an answer. I actually did contact the dealers service department and ask if they could send me a picture of a battery hooked up. And when they went out to the sales lot and checked another motorhome identical to ours the battery wasn't installed so their answer was we cant help you. Just try different hook ups until you get it to work!

Trace the cables. One of them will go to the frame, that is the ground. Check continuity between it and the other cables. If any show continuity with no resistance, they MAY be ground also. Any not showing continuity, or with a high resistance, are hot wires.

If the holes in the lugs are different sizes, that is a hint that they go on different lugs.

Once you get them identified, wrap red electrical tape around each of the hot wires.
  • Have dealer send you a photo of an identical battery box on a Jayco they have in stock

On our older Jayco, only one cable goes to GROUND. The others pile onto the POSITIVE POST.

So, try this. Trace to find the one that bolts right to the Chassis. Ideally have one "Pull it to You" (we did this in the old phone company "frames") by tugging a cable while you, under that area of the coach, looks to see which one is moving. When you're both on the same one you'll feel each other's tugs very clearly.

Start with the one with the white band. It's common in 12VDC battery systems for Positive to be Black, and Negative to be White. I think Jayco applied that tape as a guide.

Also, our Jayco has FOUR cables on Positive, which is what you'd have if the way I see it turns out to be how it is. All ours are White, go figure. I see RED as POSITIVE and I have Red Electrical Tape. Have bound all four together in Red Tape for the Positive.

We have the cheap Escapade and the battery tray was just screwed down to the brackets. Just a couple weeks ago I added Drawer Slides from Home Depot to make it like yours.
