I have had the Heki skylight in 2 different RVs and if at all possible I would not have another one. Both of them leaked from the factory so I had to reseal them. The one in the Winnebago View had to be replaced because the sides were out of sync and it would not close properly. After that one was replaced I disconnected the wires so it could never be opened as long as I owned it. When I traded it in I hooked the wires back up so it would work.
Another thing that I really hated was that you were not supposed to close the blind all the way (per their instructions) when the sun was up as it would get to hot between the shade and the cover which could cause the skylight cover to crack and there was a lot of heat coming in through the skylight.
I'm so glad our new MH came without the Heki and if I ever have one in another RV it well be to soon. I know a lot of people like them and have had no problems with them and I'm happy for them but they don't make it for me.
I think the skylight vent is an option I will forgo. The View 24G was out in the direct sunlight and I did get the feeling that a fair amount of heat was generated by the skylight. If the cover was translucent instead of clear, maybe that would help. There are other options for venting so I won't miss this option. Besides, we would again not get the cab-over bunk and we would have a skylight as does our Navion iQ. On a sunny day, lots of heat can come through there as well, so I will sometimes insert a home-made heat shield between the shade and the skylight glass. The shield is cut from one of those bubble-wrap bags that a Honey Baked Ham gets delivered in. The bubble wrap has a reflective side and does quite a nice job on a hot sunny day.
Well, I have paired about $9,000 worth of options so far, but it is still spendy.
Update: went to the dealer again with the wife and her tape measure. The skylight is made by Dometic. Looks well built, but the clear window lets in lots of heat. A translucent cover, if available is the way to go.
