My wheels are Accuride and are stamped with "8.25" x 22.5" and, the coach was outfitted with 255 80R 22.5" from the factory.

What he is saying is the 6.75" wheel is too small/narrow for 275/70s.
Some rims are simply too narrow for some tires.
Technically the 255/80 specs say it's approved for 7.5" & 8.25" wide wheels.
When we were up sizing our tires we couldn't go with 295/80s as they were rated too wide for our wheels. We ended up with 11R/22.5s as they were the same height and approved for our wheels.

Agree that the 6.75" wheels may be slightly less than ideal for the 255/80R22.5. BUT, ran that combination on our 1993 Foretravel U240 with no problems as a replacement for the OE 9R22.5. So have many, many others.
