My 1997 Class B has a 3 way Dometic fridge. It does not have an auto setting. I drive with it on 12 volt. It can't run on 12 volt with the engine off, therefore no battery drain. I switch to propane when stopped. I don't like having the main valve open on the propane tank because if I got in an accident the lines would have free flowing gas to explode. If you don't get in accident nor stop to refuel you'll be OK.
