30/30/50 amp

I'm going to a camp site in Indio Ca.that has 30amp power. The post has two 30amp on it. One for my site and one for the site next to me. I bought a 30 to 30 to 50 amp Y spilter. I was told that if I plug the two 30 amps in that I will get 50 amps to the coach? Has anyone ever done this? I also have a 50 amp surge protector that I will be using. Thanks Tom.

  • A true 50 amp RV service provides two 50 amp 120 volt circuits (12,000 watts total) with a common neutral. The 30-30 'Y' adapter will give you two 30 amp 120 volt circuits (7200 watts total). The full 50 amp service will also provide 240 volts across the two hot legs, while the 30-30 setup may or may not, depending on how the split service is wired.
  • Are you saying you have Two 30A MALE plugs that combine into One 5a FEMALE plug???

I've seen 50A Male to Two 30A Female.
Allows plugging into a 50A power receptacle and then 2 30A cords being plugged into adapter (powering 2 different rvs)

    There is a Double 30A Male to a a 50A adapter with a 30A to 20A adapter.
Idea is one 30A plugs into 30A power receptacle and the other 30A plugs into the 20A receptacle on your sites power pedestal.

But guess if you are paying for both 30A sites then you can just plug into the 30A receptacles

Not sure how the 50A Surge protector will look at both hot legs from same source---the 30A receptacles are probably being fed from same hot leg in CG electric system (50A being feed from 2 different hot legs)
