52yo guy solo c?

I have a great 2013 fourwinds c that I used to use more bue to life stuff I am alone and am using it less. are there ANY solo guys here in a c?

am I doing something wrong? i feel i should be enjoying it more but am anxious alone- like a loser. I have checked other forums about going it alone but am not getting answers as those folks are for the most part settled on traveling alone.

don't criticize but do offer your experience if it can help.

p.s. this started a little while back while trying to make a reservation in maine- I was told "we don't take reservations for men traveling alone"! i couldn't believe my ears.
  • I'm VERY surprised that you had a campground tell you "we don't take reservations from men traveling alone." That seems like blatant discrimination to me (I'm a woman who travels alone). I travel with dogs and don't generally go to campgrounds, but what business of theirs is it who is with you, as long as you aren't over any occupancy limits? Do campgrounds ask who is camping when you make a reservation? If asked, I guess I'd just say there were two people, and if anyone asked later, I'd just say, "My buddy cancelled at the last minute." Wow!
  • Being alone comfortably in any situation is a state of mind. If you are new to the solo life you must learn "to be alone". You can either stay home and stop doing the things you used to love or you can embrace the exercise. Start by understanding that you are a valid entity all by yourself. When you bring joy, curiosity and a positive energy along with you, the world conspires to join you.
Camping is one of the the most inclusive activities there is. Go forth and camp!

Most RVers seem to be couples. Maybe more couples than families, but we see singles, both solo men and solo women, on most RV outings. Dogs seem to be getting more common.

I'm convinced we can be alone but not lonely. Or... in a crowd and lonely. A matter of attitude and perspective.
  • I own a Phoenix Cruiser and hang out often on the company forum. I noticed there are quite a number of people, both men and women traveling solo, most often with a dog. They like to congregate with others of common interest. A few examples: quilters and Habitat For Humanity volunteers.
