The 6.0's in the vans had reduced output, compared to the pickups, and no intercooler. The van 6.0 tune was similar to the International VT365 tune.
Ford cranked up the tune too far in the 6.0's in the pickups. That is why the van 6.0's are less problematic than the pickup 6.0's. Less output = less stress on the engine = less heat, less pressure and less problems.
We had no problems with the 6.0 in our '05 E350, up to the time we sold it in 2015 with about 60k miles on it, if I remember the miles correctly.
I would still look for an E350 with the 7.3, instead of a 6.0.
