Does not sound right to me at all. As I mentioned before I was an insurance adjuster myself for a short time, but it was many many years ago. I was never pressured to deny claims. In fact the opposite was true. I usually thought the company should deny them but they would not. For example, a handled many cases of fences blowing down in high winds. When you look at the fence most were 20 or more years old and the fence posts were completely rotted through. The only thing holding the fence up in the first place was dirt and bushes, but because it was a storm that eventually pushed it over the insurance companies would pay full price to replace them, even though they needed replacing before the wind blew.
That is why I thought you would be covered under the same theory. Even if the roof was coming lose in one spot, before the wind blew that was something that could have easily been repaired for probably less than $100. But it was the wind that did the rest of the damage. I think it's a case you can win. I'd go at least consult with a lawyer. When you only have a property claim like this I'm not sure how their fees work. I surely wouldn't pay a lawyer at this point. I'd exhaust everything possible that you can do yourself before paying a lawyer. You may end up with more legal bills than the cost of the repair.
