Sorry to hear about the problems.
However I am not surprised.
One of the low points in by life was taking claims for a large insurance company that I will re-frame from naming.
It was NOT Progressive. In fact we changed to them last year.
I was amazed at the reasons I read for denial of a claim.
Especially Hurricane wind damage claims to homes RVs and cars.
I was even more amazed when I spoke with the insured when they called back.
Later I found out that more claims were paid if filed on the first 2 weeks than the last 2 weeks of the month. The Area offices were pushed to only pay out so much $$ a month.
I could not stay associated with the company because of their actions.
I quit.
IMPORTANT:
Get hold of your State's Insurance Commissioner and Consumer Protection Office
in you State Attorney General's Office before any repairs are made.
True Story.
Right after my Father-In Law passed his wife filed an insurance claim for the payoff of their Bounder. The bank that financed it looked at the policy and agreed that they should pay.
They denied the payment.
She lived in Va. and they had bought the Bounder in Fl.
I contacted the Fl. State Attorney Office and Mr. Charlie Chris; who was the State Attorney at the time, for her.
Within a week the Bounder was not only paid off, she receive another check for overpayment of premiums, plus a letter of apology.
Insurance companies hate State Attorney Offices and Insurance Commissioners looking at them.
