A Funny Problem With Our Stove

I love all your thoughts and ideas.
My wife will occasionally use both burners at the same time, one for pancakes, one for eggs & bacon, so disabling or covering the problematic burner is not an option.
The one idea to replace the stove top with another style where the knobs are far enough away from the burner, I suppose that is an option.
Flipping the stove around is a thought, but as Murphy's Law would have it, my wife will occasionally place the griddle on the wrong burner regardless. I think what happens is that my wife likes to place the food needing the most attention on the right burner to minimize her right arm over hot areas. That means it's a hit or miss condition, pending what is being cooked on that griddle.
We both really love how our stove top is integrated & recessed into our galley cabinet with Corian counter & cover. Any other cook top would need to be a simple drop-in replacement.
Here is our galley cabinet. The stove top happens to be covered in this picture. This setup is ideal when doing dishes.
