I never in my wildest mind thought I'd be moving to the "Desert" either. As stated, I've spent the better part of 60 years in So CAL, minus a short stint in the U.S.A.F. There are several reasons for me (us) wanting to move but, the important one is, I'll be in a way better financial position after the move.
And, because it's the desert, homes are cheaper. But, being retired, no on says we have to stay there during the hottest part/time frame. We can vacate to a cooler climate someplace. And, when things simmer down, we can mosey on back. It's definitely going to be interesting, that's for sure.
