The Southern California desert and the Arizona desert are beautiful from October through May.....otherwise, unless you like the severe dry heat, you move to cooler weather.
We have been going to Palm Springs for 25 yrs. and have been here (current location) since January with a few RV trips to Las Vegas and Borrego Springs. You just can't beat the California coast during the summer months or even Oregon and Washington.
The motorhome has tires for a reason! LOL!
