What an interesting thread; I've enjoyed reading all the posts.
Someone said it here, and I've heard it said before: that coaches like the Wanderlodge and Prevost are true "busses" (and, I think I might put Newell in that category also) - and drive as such: solid, heavy, durable, best quality you can get. When we were searching, starting back in 2010 until we bought our coach in 2012, I really wanted a Wanderlodge - but just kinda got scared off by researching and even talking to an owner who was a friend. Clearly the quality was top-notch; they just seemed to be more complex than I was prepared to handle. As one guy told me "they have solenoids that operate solenoids". In reality, I don't think it would have been all that bad; I was just a first-time coach owner and was hesitant.
Never seriously considered a Prevost. Looked at one I could afford, and just didn't feel comfortable in it - it seemed like it just didn't have the space inside that I wanted. No slides on that one, however.
We looked at a Newell for sale at PPL in Houston - a pretty old one - and I was really impressed with the quality; I just didn't like the interior. Lots of laminated cabinets, which just didn't appeal to me. It was a really solid beast of a coach, though.
So, we finally got a look at a Foretravel and really liked it. Clearly, it's a "motorhome" and not a "bus"; but I can tell you that after driving other DPs this Foretravel is a whole different (better) experience than any other I'd driven. And the interior was more appealing - seems more spacious (even without slides), and the quality of the woodwork (walnut in ours) is unbeatable in my opinion. Plus, it had two bonuses: 1. the manufacturer is still in business and will work on my coach, and 2. it gets maybe twice the fuel mileage of a Wanderlodge or Newell (although, I don't believe any of us who drive these machines should be super concerned with fuel economy).
Also, the Foretravel seemed to be a much simpler machine, with systems that I might be able to work on myself - with the help and advice of other owners, who participate in a great owners' forum.
Just my thoughts, and thanks everyone for an interesting discussion.
