What tricks does anyone to keep a Rv cool in the summer, these past few days have been low 90s. I have basement are and run the generator to keep it going down the road. but it seems just cant keep up the hot days, 95 outside 85 inside. any thoughts
SHADE.. That's #1
#2 is the color of your RV. I let my wife pick, She choose a dark color scheme, I'd have chosen much lighter
#3 is Maintenance... I would do this as early as the park allows.
Go topside, take a brush and an air hose or if you must a water hose, and a phillips screwdriver.. Hopefully that is all you will need.
Remove the cover (Shroud) from teh A/C (Several screws) note a magnetic "parts" tray can keep screws from wandering off, or a pill bottle.
Now remove the inner cover off the condenser.. CLEAN IT, remove all the gunk and debris that collects, Compressed air from the outside and a gentle brush inside can do wonders (NOTE a Painter's mask, not a bad idea, you are going to be blowing dust and debris around)
Also clean everything else cleanable, In the very very unlikely case the blower motoer needs lubrication. Do so (most are not lubeable, I have one that is, did not know it. Oh well).
Re-assemble
Inside clean the intake filters
but seriously SHADE is your Friend.. Sadly SHADE is not the A/C's friend.. Where do you thank that gunk and debris came from (The shade) You should see the mess cotton wood makes of my A/C.
NOTE: Some A/C (Advent air for example) make it hard to remove the inner cover.
Note 2: I'd be real happy with 10 degrees difference just now (my remainign Carrier Air V died and Coleman to Carrier adapters are hard to find. I just left E-mail for Airxcel (They make Coleman) asking why, Do not know if I have a reply yet) The other Carrier Air V is now an Advent, I do not recommend Advent.
