AC Noise

Yep and the least of worries with us, with just hoping that they will keep on trucking and have done some of my own repairs on the front unit.

I did a quick test this weekend.
I took off the plastic vent cover on the ceiling and press a piece of foam over the outflow of air.
This forced all the air through the ceiling vents.
It cut the noise at least 50%, it was amazing.

Now I need to figure out a way of creating a decorative cover as fpresto mentions above and installing it into the ceiling with a large piece of foam to absorb the noise.

Anyone ever done this before ?

we recently had the plastic inside air conditioner vents (covers) replaced with a decorative, upholstered cover. they sealed (taped) off the air outflow portion with an A/C vent material that looked like a metallic piece of cardboard. that out flow air is now forced through the various round A/C vents throughout the cabin. This significantly reduced the noise level inside the RV.

If I am reading your post it sounds like the quick cool vent on the bottom of the A/C is open. Does most of the air come straight down from the unit? If so close the slider that then forces the air to the other vents and will reduce the noise level. You don't have to do anything expensive just close the quick cool vent. It sounds like that is exactly what they others did except they closed it off.

In many cases folks set the fan to AUTOMATIC and let me tell you when it comes on it is loud.

Set the fan on HIGH and your mind will fairly swiftly set up a mental noise filter and ...You do not hear it any more.

What's more.. The white noise generated by the rushing air covers the couple 2 sites over having the knock down drag out "Heated discussion". and puts a good size dent in the noise of the Guy with the F-350 Diesel firing that sucker up at 6 Am so the engine will be nice and gummed up when he pulls out at NINE.

You have 2 threads going abut your roof AC's. This thread. you state the AC is new. Did the OLD AC make the same noise? If not, then maybe the new AC was not installed correctly. Doug

You may have to get a Newmar to get quiet AC. When we had a couple of Fleetwood units (Pace Arrow) the TV or talking would have to be loud to hear above the AC noise. The Newmar is so quiet you have to check if it is running when on low speed.

What kind of noise? There are a lot of things that can make noise on an A/C unit. Even a bad fan or junk clogging the fan... Bad bearing.... ? What does it sound like?
