I never gave my A/C a break while I was living in Mesa AZ.
You might want to run it in 'fan on' position, so that any frost that is on the indoor coil will thaw out while the compressor is not running.
I know that the first night that I park the RV, the engine puts a lot of heat into the front compartment. The next day is much cooler!
And I always run the rooftop A/C and generator while driving when it is over 90F outside.
