I did some research on this prior to buying a motorhome and have had many discussion on here since. One thing you have to look at is stats. Per miles traveled motorhomes have less fatalities than cars. (Don't ask me where I got that but I have seen in the stat. I think it probably came from NHTSA) Motorhomes do not have all the front end safety equipment like cars or trucks, but they do sit much higher. The fact is in a collision with most vehicles on the road, you will be afforded a lot of protection simply by the fact that the collision impact will take place below the passengers. Of course if it's a Mack truck you're hitting head on all bets are off, but they are off no matter what you are riding in.
Now for trucks, yes they have better safety features and have been crash tested and designed to absorb impact. But have you ever seen one of those crash tests done with a 10,000 pound trailer behind the truck? The front of the truck may absorb the impact, but what is going to absorb that trailer from coming into the cab with you?
Just don't crash is the best solution.
