I think at highway speed it's not going to make much difference what type of coach, truck or car you are in the results will be horrific. RV accidents always appear bad considering the amount of debris all the stuff we pack into them creates. Overall there are some advantages in a class A when you considering the floor height and the rolling weight of the coach when in a contact with a smaller object or vehicle. Rear end a fully load stopped semi, telephone pole, tree and such at 55 mph,,,. With everything we do in our day to day activities there is some element of risk. We, as the drivers/operators of a class A, can minimize the risks when moving down the road but can never eliminate them. Slow down, eliminate distractions, learn how to do a pre-drive safety inspection, maintain a 360 degree buffer area.
One item mentioned that we must all consider. If we demand the government impose stricture safety standards on both the chassis and coach builders then we must also be prepared to accept the end results. Escalation in costs, increase weight, reduced fuel economy, potential floor plan eliminate (slides), reduced loading capacity, nationwide licensing (driver and coach) requirements/restrictions. Be careful what we wish for as we may not like the end result.
