the 14mpg was for the MB 25 footer. I appreciate all the positive thoughts and will absolutely check out the ball joint boots. The prior owner was very mechanical and a friend of the dealer's owner, so I think the maintenance on this thing was top notch, but I also know that if I don't ask, they won't be telling.
Perhaps it's just me, but I've bought homes and big boats before, and everything was on a MLS, there were procedures and rules everyone had to follow and a great deal of consumer protections built in. Why isn't there an MLS for RV's? My salesman can only sell what's on his lot, which means he can only represent the seller, not the buyer. I come from a legal and insurance background so I know how to read a contract, but otherwise this process seems like the Wild West and it's all caveat emptor.
My prior boat was a 1981 46 Bertram motoryacht, 16 beam, 51 ft overall. And yes,
no brakes! When I realized I could retire if I just sold the boat, well, 13 years with that classic boat was enough. .5mpg, 2 gallons per mile
I'm going to be given a choice of new Michelin or Goodyear tires, all ten of them. I'll poke around here, sure there are lots of threads on tires.
One of my neighbors has a similar coach, a few feet smaller, but comparable, and I'm going to ask him to come along with us when we check out the coach and take it for a drive. I'm not worried about driving it, have driven large trucks including fire trucks before, so I know all about using mirrors and positional awareness. But even with my Suburban I rub a corner once in a while, so getting used to the turning radius will probably be my biggest challenge, but I learn quickly.
