Caveat Emptor
Nail, Head, Bingo!
Im sure Ill offend a salesman here, but, don't trust one, ever, and youll be better off.
Rarely has a salesman in the RV industry known more than a well informed consumer, in fact, most salesmen are the butt of a million jokes by the service guys.
Also, Id personally never buy a used Moho without ALL the service records.
And, Id not waste $1 on an inspection of anything but the chassis and engine, and Id ask if I could do a fluid analysis of the tranny fluid, coolant, and engine oil before I made an offer.
Anyone can check the "house" systems with little knowledge...they either work or they don't.
If seller will allow, borrow the manuals and read em over, ALL the rec'd maintenance is spelled out in there quite well for the chassis, engine, genset, etc. Should answer most of your excellent questions/concerns.
Your knowledge and awareness of wear item repair gives you an edge, I see too many folks expecting smooth sailing after buying a class A. Most of us know, it is usually one thing after another, for me it has been nickel dime stuff but it is something nonetheless.
And, with the issues you spoke of on the coach youre looking at, Id drop your offer a bit.
FWIW, Id buy another used Newmar in a heartbeat. And Spartan will be my next chassis regardless.
I just wish some more used Entegras would hit the market!
But, the coach youre looking at was on our very short list.
Good luck!
