If the ball joint boots are intact, this coach does not have the problem IMHO.
And no, not every Spartan Chassis has ball joint issues from what I can gather. More common on the 97-2000 models from what I have read. My boots are gone, but the joints are still good and I regularly bath them in Boeshield T-9 which wicks very well into the joints.
The beauty of oil bathed wheel bearings is that they do not have to be re-packed as long as the oil is changed every 2 years or so. Speedco always checks the oil and oil level as part of their normal drive in service.
Put synthetic in the rear differential and you are good to go for 250K miles.
Re: generator hours. These units like to be exercised and many report getting close to 15,000 hours before a major re-build. Also there is the matter of how many hours you put on it per year. I have put 550 hours on my 7500 in 4.5 years and 30K miles of travel(live in S. Florida and go to at least one music festival per year dry camping). Oil changes and filter changes are very easy, ditto for the air filter but Speedco will do these changes and a fuel filter change for less than I can buy the oil and filters.
And yep, that big propane tank is just for the stove, oven and refrigerator since the unit has hydro heat. Filled mine 2 years ago and still have 1/2 a tank(plus my furnaces are propane powered-but used sparingly).
