Advice removing water stains on front curtains

Our front drapes were starting to look pretty bad also. Called about having them dry cleaned but the wanted $4 per pleat (would have cost about $120) and I had heard horror stories about the drapes shrinking even when dry cleaned. I decided to risk washing them in my home washer on a gentle cycle and treating any spots as I would treat any stains. After they soaked, washed and spun out, I hung them, up while still wet. They dried with no wrinkles and they look brand new.
