Air Bags don't fit, 1998 Monaco Dynasty

Just a final note. the airbag numbers mentioned in my last post do fit the rig there are separate airbags for the rear and separate for the front. I would advise anybody to find out your airbag model numbers write them down in a book cuz many times the paint is worn off of the actual Pat and difficult to track down. My cost for ordering the airbags, eight of them, about $3,000 and about $3,800 to have them put on. very expensive but Firestone recommends that every 10 years.

I got these #s from another member with a 05 Dynasty and 11"/9.5" ride heights. Hope this helps.
The front bag is Goodyear 2B9 578 92 3 202 - 2B9 206
The rear bags are 578 92 3 309 - 2B12 309

In the middle of a similar situation with my 2004 Country Coach Inspire. Pulled bags out and got the numbers, ordered the bags. Rears came in but did not match, reordered and all is good. The fronts back ordered now about 1 month with no set date on shipping. Bags were $200 each and I have 4. I really did not think finding replacement bags would have been an issue until I realized the numbering game and that CC made its own chassis.

This case shows that sometimes those propitiatory chassis may cause issues that a brand named chassis might not. Not that Roadmaster wasn't a good brand name, it was just limited to one manufacturer. When that manufacturer went away so did much of the information.

With a Freightliner or Spartan I wouldn't think these issues would arise.

Hopefully, final update on replacing older Monaco airbbags. Monaco tells me that our 1998 was on a Roadmaster chassis and when they went belly up, they gave little info on the older Monacos to the new owners. A great Monaco parts guy has been researching the airbags for hours and says the only one he thinks it could be for the front if a Firestone W01 358-6905. We have ordered them through Firestone in Reno ( $190 each, $45 each shipping) and I will verify that they are the correct ones when we have them installed. God forbid, if you blew an airbag on some of these older units, out on the road, you could be stuck for a long time as the numbers are worn off the parts, and the older Monaco number might not be available, as is the case here. Again, the rear Firestone airbags for our unit are: W 01 358-9376. Hang onto these numbers as our RV is in Freightliner in Avondale, and they took the airbag off, and couldn't even tell what number it was so you have to have this in advance.

Thanks. If you can believe it, Freight liner actually had to remove the airbags from the front to get any numbers off of them, and the numbers don't mean anything to anybody. Shows how serious a blown airbag could be out on the road. How would anybody know how to replace it? Freight liner is taking some photos of the airbag so I can send it up to Monaco. Is a single lobe. Worst case scenario, I would have to go get the airbag, take it to Truck Pro in Phoenix and see if they can get it. They are a Firestone Ride Right dealer.

One thing I found out about Monaco and others, is the part numbers given are proprietary numbers for that particular mfg. My coach has Carling switches but the numbers printed on them are Monaco numbers, not Carling. Seems strange to me but,it is what it is. Good luck. Perhaps Monaco can cross reference their numbers to Firestone or vis versa. Hope you get it fixed soon....Dennis

OK, Firestone gave me the correct part number for the airbags that fit the REAR of our Monaco Dynasty. The number I had, 8619, is just an old Monaco part number. its actually W013589376. Has anybody run across the correct airbag number for the 98 Monaco Dynasty FRONT airbags? numbers I have don't mean anything and can't be ordered. Thanks for any help on this.

A note on the airbag numbers. I posted numbers from the old airbag on my Monaco Dynasty but Firestone says those numbers don't mean anything and we need to get a proper number for the airbag to order a new one. It may even be a part that they made for Monaco but the tech didn't know at Firestone Ride Right. Still trying to figure out how to get the property front airbags for the 98 Monaco Dynasty. So I would disregard the posted numbers until I can get the correct one.

yes, ouch indeed with the cost of these airbags. Here's an update you may want to take note off. the Firestone rear airbags for the 1998 Monaco Dynasty are numbers 8619. Freightliner just called me and they pulled an old airbag off the front and its a Firestone part number 1098-3101 and there's another number on the bag that might help. its 11683100. Monaco parts is closed now so I'll call them tomorrow and see if they have this. Hope the cheap one Ivylog got on ebay wasn't used! Good price though.
