"fishingbob61"......Just my PERSONAL opinion from owning two DP's. The air hose is nice for filling a bicycle tire, pool inflatables or blowing your shoes off, but is really a poor way to fill large RV tires, especially if they're 22.5's. The tanks just don't hold enough volume/pressure to continuously fill the tires without the engine running.
On most RV's, there is enough pressure to put in a small amount of air and then the coach's compressor has to kick in to refill the tank. This can be a long process, especially with the engine running.
Many guys have created a filler that lets them fill the tire and then dump air in the tank so that the compressor kicks back in. Again...TO ME, this is really a poor and tedious way to fill tires, and is especially a problem if you're in a campground, checking your tires in the morning.
A lot of people just buy a small 110 volt electric compressor that can be run off of your house 110, campground 110 or your generator.
Here is a very popular compressor used by RVers that is small, robust and can easily go to 125psi.
