Hmmmm, I'd like to see them test it up here in the frigid northland by Lake Superior. We're in the throes of another Polar Vortex. It's only -14°F this morning with about a -30°F wind chill.
I know a guy that bought an electric car up there. Pretty much worthless in the winter since you need to use up electric to generate heat inside so you don't freeze to death.
As far as the bus, that's fantastic. You could tour the country, pull into a park and charge the rig for the next leg. Wonder how long it would be before the park owners figured it all out and started charging more. - Mr_Mark1ExplorerDennis, that is really cool, thanks for sharing. Seems to work perfect for it's application in city busses. It just may trickle down to the RV world or some adaptation of it.
MM. - timmacExplorerThe cost of a electric RV would be to high for most of us, the chassis alone would probably cost $300,000
- All58ParksExplorerHaving to stop every 20 miles to recharge?
As a bus, it works. As an RV, that would be tedious! - BillofPAExplorerSomeone once said: "The electric car is the car of the future; and it always will be."
- StimExplorerSince about 50% of the US electric is produced in coal fired plants these "wonderful" electric vehicles are at least 50% Coal Powered!
Try explaining that to the over educated. They will argue that the electric comes from the wall socket! - kab449Explorer

In the video it stated they buy the electricity for the bus from a green supplier, no coal. Actually from wind farms in Kansas. Everyone can do the same and mothball those bad coal plants. All you have to do is pay about 30% more for the power. - BumpyroadExplorer

and pray for a windy day.
bumpy - bsinmichExplorerI would hope more for a hybrid RV using the diesel-electric setup of our current RR locomotives.

A generation raised on Star Trek continues to dream of a world with unlimited cheap clean energy supplied by Di-Lithium crystals. Unfortunately someone needs to do the real engineering and we'll never get there by just hugging trees or trying to legislate technological innovation into existence.
But todays new generation knows that crystolic fusion is the way to go. Just ask Buzz Lightyear.
